YESTERDAY'S SCHOOL by Gene Minix We stood at the window, Our class of eleven and three. Each and every school day morning That is where we'd be. To watch Old Glory raised High upon the pole. It was a special event That never grew old. We crossed our hearts And saluted that beautiful flag. We sung MY COUNTRY 'TIS OF THEE And our zeal never did lag. We went to our desks And from the Bible our teacher read. And she talked the Golden Rule And then prayer was said. How we need schools today Like they were in days gone by. Where the Bible was read And our flag proudly raised high. © Copyright 2013, by Gene Minix. All rights reserved. |
