AS LONG AS YOU LOVE ME

by Gene Minix

You gave me a shoulder
When I needed one to lean on.
When I felt down and weak,
You helped to make me strong.

When I had doubts
You took the doubts away.
When others had harsh words
You had kind words to say.

When I needed a helping hand
You reached out your hand to me.
When there were times I didn't understand
You always helped me to see.

When the storms of life grew weary
As they did at times.
You gave me the hope and courage
That tomorrow the sun would shine.

I want you to know I love you.
And I'm so thankful you are mine.
And as long as you love me
I know everything will be just fine.

I'M REMINDED

by Gene Minix

Every time I see a deer at play.
When I hear a robin sing.
When snowflakes fall on my nose.
When roses bloom in the spring.

A sunset over majestic mountains.
A sunrise down by the seashore.
In all these things
And in a million more.

In watching a precious child at play.
A lover's words so very dear.
In a refreshing summer rain.
I'm reminded that God is near.

I WILL NOT FEAR

by Gene Minix

There is no night so dark
That my God cannot see.
And I know that my Lord
Is watching over me.

So I will not fear.
Why should I worry?
When I know my Lord
Is watching over me.

There is no noise so great
That Jesus cannot hear.
When I call His name
He is always right here.

So I will not fear.
Why should I worry?
When I know my Lord
Is watching over me.

He knows all my yesterdays
And those days yet to be.
He knows my heart.
How my Lord does love me.

So I will not fear.
Why should I worry?
When I know my Lord
Is watching over me.

THE BOOK

by Gene Minix

The winter wind whistled outside.
She sat close to the fire,
Old now and gray.
She held a book with wrinkled hands
And dreamed of soft sweet memories
Of a long ago day.

For a moment she was there again.
Young and vibrate, skin soft, eyes bright.
For long moments she did look.
She felt joy, heard the laughter of friends.
She felt the excitement of youth again.
Clutched tight her high school year book

DREAMING OF A COOL AUTUMN DAY

by Gene Minix

My mule doesn't  mind at all
Me stopping to rest 'neat the big oak tree.
The rows are long in the summer sun.
And I imagine  he's bout as hot as me.

The shade of this old oak feels good
On this hot summer day.
And I'm sitting here dreaming
Of autumn and those leaves at play.

Dreaming of that cool autumn time
And leaves of red, yellow and brown.
I can just imagine them
As they playfully float down to the ground.

I wipe the sweat from my face
And say, "Let's go, Old Gray.
There's still a lot of rows to plow
On this hot summer day."

He obeys my command
And we move along the way.
I'm sure he's dreaming, though,
Like me, of a cool autumn day.
